Political repression is the maltreatment of an individual or group for political reasons, especially for the purpose of limiting or forbidding their ability to take part in the political life of society. It often is evidenced in the form of human rights violations, surveillance abuse, police brutality, imprisonment, involuntary settlement, stripping of citizen's rights, lustration and violent action such as the murder, summary executions, torture, forced disappearance and other extrajudicial punishment of political activists, dissidents, or general population. The main purpose of this paper is to identify legal mechanisms for the rehabilitation of victims of political repression, to identify competent authorities with rehabilitation and the role of the Prosecutor's Office in this process.
