Rezumat

The diplomatic battle of Romania at the Paris Peace Conference in 19191920, for international recognition of Bessarabian Union, is a subject the Romanian historiography examined with predilection, from the moment Conference ended and till present. Still, there are historical sources that, even though are not modifying the whole image of the Conference, in terms of its results or of the participants’ approach to the recognition of the Union, contain information on some aspects of the subject, relevant for researchers by new details they offer. The Romanian Government delegated I. Pelivan, at the Peace Conference in Paris, to represent Bessarabia. He was a prominent militant for the national liberation movement, who had a prodigious activity on initiating the European official circles and public opinion regarding the issue of Bessarabia in 1919-1920. In this article the most important aspects of the activity of Bessarabian delegation are examined, how Ion Pelivan appreciated the Great Powers’ attitude towards Romania, the efforts made by Bessarabian delegation at the Paris Peace Conference and the contribution of all these factors for the recognition of the Union of Bessarabia with her Mother Country.
