Rezumat

The article illustrates traditions of mentoring and their role in successful adjustment and further adaptation in educational and multicultural context of foreign universities for some groups of international students. The data were collected on the basis of Ryazan State University named after S. A. Esenin, Russia, covering the period of 7 years. The research shows that students of certain cultural groups such as Turkmen, Uzbeks, Kazakhs, Tatars, Turks, the Gagauz, Azerbaijanis adjust to the new environment easier due to the traditional guidance provided by the senior members of their ethnic community.
