We evaluated the efficacy of Steinernema feltiae Californian strain, and Heterorhabditis bacteriophora Moldovan strain for the control of Colorado potato beetle Leptinotarsa decemlineata (Say), larvae in the laboratory and field. Virulence of nematodes was assessed by the mortality of host larvae and by the number of nematodes established per host. In the laboratory tests S. feltiae were significantly more virulent to larvae than the H.bacteriophora. Concentration of S.feltiae for 88% mortality of CPB larvae (1st, 2nd, 3rd) after 6-10 days was 158 nematodes/cm2 . In contrast H bacteriophora achieved mortality of CPB larvae 53% with highest concentration tested 393.1 nematodes/cm2 . |
