The epidemiological study of hydatidosis was performed on cattle, sheep and pigs, during January – February 2012, in slaughterhouse “Navelina”, Orhei, Republic of Moldova. All slaughtered animals were collected from various regions of the country. The aim of this study was to assess the epidemiology of hydatidosis in slaughtered animals, in Moldova. Were examined a total of 1525 cattle, of whom 905 (59.34%) were infested with hydatid cysts, of them 58 (25.00%) from farms and 847 (65.50%) from household. Echinococosis cysts were found 41.5% in liver, 6.63% in lungs and 51.82% in both liver and lungs. From the total of 5580 examined sheep, 3454 (61.89%) were found as infested, of them 2153 (80.00%) from farms and 1301 (45.03%) from household. Hydatid cysts have been found 36.88% of cases in liver, 11.87% in lungs and 51.24% in mixed localization. In pigs (12700), no positive cases of hydatidosis have been detected, due to that all animals were collected from the pig complexes with closed mode maintenance. Thus, future investigations are warranted to further characterize the epidemiology of hydatidosis in Moldova. |
