Starting with the works of G. Bodenshtein and H. Pretorius. (1977), numerous publications appeared on the application of the adaptive segmentation methodology both in psychophysiological studies and in clinical practice. Rapid development in the field of computer technology and the emergence of more sophisticated methods of analyzing and processing the EEG create a favorable condition in this area. The methodology of adaptive EEG segmentation is one of the main approaches for studying the neurodynamic foundations of behavioral and mental activities. In this paper, the algorithm of adaptive segmentation of EEG processes based on the principle proposed by S.I. Soroko, S.S. Bekshaev, N.B. Suvorov (1981) is presented algorithmically and technically., where the EEG process is a reflection of the probabilistic-determination organization of discrete-informative EEG events (which is chosen as the 0-intersection of the EEG, the type of individual waves determined by three successors of 0- intersections, etc.). To ensure the on-line adaptive segmentation, the principle of operation of a portable device based on a network of microcontrollers (Atmega 8), for preprocessing EEG processes, is proposed. Interconnected microcontrollers in the network perform the functions of individual levels in the hierarchical representation of EEG processes. The first level (semiotic) performs the role of isolating discrete-informative EEG events ("letters"), the second level (semantic) – the definition of EEG segments, in the form of relationships (more probabilistic alternations of individual "letters". The boundary of the transition of one segment of the EEG to another is determined by the criteria chosen by the researcher (user) based on the characteristics of the stochastic matrix (the matrix of the probabilities of transition from one "letter" of the EEG alphabet to the other). The third level provides the formation of a "neurodynamic portrait", in the form of alternations of individual EEG segments. As a reflection of the global organization of neurodynamic processes. This function is performed on a personal computer that is connected to a portable device providing preprocessing of signals. The prospects for adaptive segmentation of EEG processes in probabilistic transitions of discrete-informative EEG events are due to the informative information of the main rhythms of the brain found in the biorhythmological organization.
