Thyroid pathology, being the most frequent endocrinopathy, develops especially in women of reproductive age, influencing the course of gestation. In fact, pregnancy has a potentially stimulating effect on the thyroid by changing thyroid function during pregnancy. The importance of normal levels of thyroid hormone is explained by their action on the development of all body systems and especially the fetal central nervous system. The issue of thyroid hormones deficiency in pregnant women needs to be known by physicians that monitor pregnancy, such as family physicians, endocrinologists, gynecologists and obstetricians. This paper comes with an explanation of pathogenetic changes in thyroid function during pregnancy, thyroid pathology screening and treatment recommendations for these changes. |
