Although the Roman statues of deities found in Romania do not represent the official art (like the statuary of the emperors and the funeral) and they do not constitute a direct
political propaganda, they are convincing examples of religious propaganda, demonstrating the existence of Roman religion in Dacia and Scythia Minor (today known as Dobrogea). Especially since the examples are many and varied, all the major deities and almost all the secondary ones were represented in sculpture ronde bosse, not only the supreme god, Jupiter (the god whose worship refers to the official cult of the Emperor). |
