Dionysius the Humble, approx 500-560
BC, also known as Dionysius Exiguus,
as it appears in the largest
Encyclopaedias of the world, was an
outstanding personality.
His contribution to the translation
of the works of Christian theologs
from the East into latin, to the
enrichment of the canonical law in West,
which hi initiated and carried out,
is imense.
Dionysius is the founder of the Christian
Era, as he first had the idea of calculating
the years as from the birth of Christ.
His innovation revolutionized all
callendars, and has ultimately been
accepted every where in the world.
Very strange, but his name has been over
looked in the anniversaries” calendar
for 2000, elaborated by UNESCO. |
