In the recent years the need of advanced security systems has grown in an unpredictable manner. We saw how modern cities are very susceptible to terrorist attacks and the population asks to feel safer. In this perspective WITNESS project was designed, to help security forces to preview terrorist attacks and to facilitate disaster recovery scenarios. In this paper we break down some aspects of modern surveillance systems within the context of the Wide InTegration of sensor Networks to Enable Smart Surveillance (WITNESS) NATO project. A brief description of the architecture of the system and the methodology are presented, as well as several use case scenarios which WITNESS will cater for. |
