Territorial disproportions in economic development create social inequalities, and conversely, social disproportions, as a rule, create economic inequalities. Most cases of evolutions in the second category occur in underdeveloped states, being caused by the unstoppable extensive development of their capitals. This is also the case of the municipality of the capital of the Republic of Moldova, which over the last two decades, without an adequate increase in the number of jobs, is experiencing a real boom in housing construction (over 72% of the entire footage built from the republic), where constructions with 2 levels or more prevails. Such a concentration of that type of constructions in the capital and its suburbs, has a negative impact on the whole republic, manifested by the artificial increase of the attractiveness of the capital area for internal (and not only) immigrants, leaving the districts without working hands. It is necessary for the Government to be actively involved in the issues of making more efficient use of the available financial and human resources with the orientation towards a balanced regional development, provided by the legislation in force, with the purpose of substantially reducing the disproportions created in the economic and social development between the capital city and the other administrative-territorial units. |
