Rezumat

In the second half of the 1990s, started the international labour migration of the Moldovan population. In the 2000s, it became massive. While initially the majority of Moldovan migrant workers went to Russia for earnings (63% in 2008), since 2016 the trend has changed. 56% of migrant workers go to the European Union. At the same time, Russia's share has fallen to 44% and continues to decline. In the process of labor migration Moldovan citizens are developing a new perception of themselves and others, all the while the existing stereotypes are being destroyed. By comparing themselves to other people, to their values, and culture of the receiving countries, they begin to change their perceptions of life and surrounding reality. This process is considered in a number of directions: first, the awareness of themselves, their values, styles of communication in the system of new coordinates of the destination country. People are beginning to better represent the virtues and disadvantages of their country. Second, on the basis of real practice, Moldovans get to know others and another country. At the same time, a critical view of the receiving country is also formed, the understanding that these countries (Russia or the EU) are also not paradise on earth, that they also have their own problems. Third, daily communication changes the perception of Moldovans and citizens of receiving countries, destroys their stereotypes. Fourth, communication in the receiving country contributes to the enrichment of Moldovan migrant workers, they begin to adopt the values, style of behavior of the host country. Fifth, at the same time Moldovan citizens bring new ideas, values to the countries where they live and work.
