Political analysis is a relatively young and dynamically developing branch of scientific knowledge and professional activity. Early 1970s even in the United States, where this discipline was first identified, some of those who actually engaged in political analysis identified themselves as professional political analysts. Political analysis as a profession and an independent discipline has been formed in recent decades, and the number of those who can justifiably call themselves professional political analysts is still only part of the people who actually study and practice the art of political analysis. Meanwhile, practicing political analysts today can be found in a wide variety of organizational structures, including national, regional and local authorities, advisory firms, research institutes, business associations and other organizations representing groups of interests, commercial structures and nonprofit organizations.
