Moldovan cuisine includes a lot of rich culinary traditions. Translators often encounter certain difficulties in translating culinary realia from one language into another. In this article we propose a review of the main strategies of realia translation. Realia are words and expressions for culture-specific items. As realia carry a very local overtone, its translating is not only to maintain fidelity to the form, but also to be faithful to the content, especially to the cultural environment. |
