The paper discusses the dynamics of the population between the two last censuses conducted in Transnistria in 1989 and 2004. The inter-censal total population estimates revealed a huge under-estimation of the official migration data. Based on the results of the 2004 census, the analysis of the population age structure is presented. Transnistria like other part of Moldova faces the process of population ageing resulted from the massive emigration of the population and a decline in fertility. |
