Rezumat

The study of new maize self-pollinated lines of various origin, created in the laboratory of maize breeding and seed production of the Institute of Plant Industry named. V. Ya. Yuriev NAAS have been conducted. The pedigree of new lines are include the elite lines of different germplasms, local varieties, exotic populations from Mexico and Brazil, synthetics with a wide genetic background, as well as foreign hybrids with a unknown pedigree. Studies show that the involvement of exotic populations in breeding programs to create lines with valuable economic characteristics, such as high productivity, big kernels, high seed set is quite effective. New self-pollinated lines with high genetic potential, which are recommended for their further use in the creation of maize hybrids with high heterotic effect, have been identified.
