Rezumat

The results on galvano-magnetic measurements of the transport properties of Bi wires under influence of the uniaxial strain and magnetic field up to 35 T are presented.  Measurements of the longitudinal resistance and Seebeck coefficient of Bi wires in a high magnetic field have revealed some anomalies in a magnetic field far above the quantum limit of the electrons: a sharp peak on the magnetoresistance and a minimum with plateau on the magnetothermopower dependence.   0 5 10 15 20 25 30 -10 0 10 20 30 40 50 60 70 Thermopower, mV/K Magnetic field, T 1 2 3   Figure 1. Magnetothermopower dependence for different values of uniaxial strain..   Observed correlation between a simultaneous shift in a magnetic field of the position of the anomalies and of the quantum limit of electrons, when modifying of the electronic structure under strain, allows us to attribute of unidentified peaks to the complex structure of the lowest Landau level of electrons when one of the lowest spin-polarized Landau sublevel of the electrons approaches and crosses the Fermi energy level.
