Rezumat

Export diversification has been the key concept in achieving business performance. In addition to finding new markets, the links with existing partners are consolidating, about half of total exports growth being due to increased trade with the triad countries and China. Currently, the main five destinations of EU-28 food exports are the US, China, Switzerland, Russia and Japan. In 2015, more sanitary and phytosanitary barriers have been removed, and export opportunities have also multiplied due to the geographical indications of quality products in the EU. The ranking of major global exporters of agri-food products has remained unchanged lately after the EU replaced the US at the top of the list in 2013. Agricultural products account for over 7% of all goods exported from different countries. Trade in agricultural and food products is a key factor in the trade of many countries, especially emerging countries, with poorly developed industry. The wide range of products on all parts of the value chain demonstrates the versatility of this sector. The largest increases in exports were recorded for products that already had a high share of exports of agri-food products, such as spirits and wine.
