Rezumat

In Romania, vineyard plantations are placed on sloping and sunny terrains, which ensure favorable ecological conditions. Before new vine plantations, several categories of works are conducted, such as cutting down the previous crop, cleaning the terrain from stumps and branches, terrain levelling, phosphorous – potassium fertilizers applying, together with manure, liming for 3-4 years on the acid soils, deep loosening or tillage. Because the deep tillage is very expensive and leads to changes on over two thirds of the soil profile, with negative effects, in some situations other methods are preferred. The deep tillage works are very expensive and have some negative effects on soils (compaction, decrease in permeability, lowering the humus content, increasing erosion processes on sloping terrains). In the last case the replacement of these is attempted with deep loosening without furrowing conducted at depths of 60 – 70 cm. Because the deep loosening works without having been practiced for the new plantation are more recent, we wanted to conduct a preliminary study regarding the effect of these works on some physical and morphological soil characteristics. This research will be useful for assessing the quality of works of deep loosening according to some indicators that could be readily determined in the field.
