Rezumat

During several decades in a result of permanent various conflicts there is multicomponent contamination of soils in Georgia (rocket and reactive fuel wastes, heavy metals, explosives, military chemicals, useless pesticides and etc.). In many cases in the storage areas of former military facilities several pollutants are presented together and clean up of the territory from all the pollutants jointly becomes necessary. Based on the experience of our working group (more than 1000 tons of various military and industrial wastes are utilized) together with the disposal of hazardous waste, purification and restoration of the polluted soils becomes necessary. In this case there are used soil self purification processes, by the activation of soil biological agents (bacteria, fungi, plant roots). After the aeration enhancement, placement of special nutritious substrates with various additives in layers, as well as binding of migration of dangerous substances are used. Phytoremediation possibilities by means of local plants are used in addition to in situ fixation. Based on the results of the initial environmental monitoring of polluted sites, technical conditions are drawn for the effective remediation of the soil by the combination of various methods. Self purification process is controlled periodically and is corrected in case of need, ecological passport will be developed according to the work results and the territory will be prepared for handing to the local municipality, but in some cases freed territories are used willfully, that includes danger. Rational use of freed territories for ecologically safe civil purposes becomes priority.
