Recently, an attention has devoted to developing new photocatalytic materials based on coordination compounds and/ or polymers [1]. Some of these complexes efficiently catalyze the photodegradation of organic contaminants [2, 3]. Transition metal complexes with Schiff base ligands are of particular interest because of their unusual configurations and sensitivity to molecular environments as functional materials. We have interested in the synthesis of complexes with new salen-type ligands based on 4-formyl-3-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid [4]. Herein, we report the synthesis of new copper(II) complex of the compozition [Cu(H2L)]Solv (1) stands for compartmental ligand, N,N’-bis(2- hydroxy(3-carboxynaphthylidene)propane-1,3-diamine (H4L) , separated in solid state and characterized by single crystal X ray diffraction analysis. The complex 1 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/c with following cell parameters: a=1.674(2) Å, b= 1.793(6) Å, c= 0.746(8) Å. It has established, the complex has monomeric structure (figure). The ligand is double deprotonated and coordinates to copper atom through two azomethine nitrogen and two phenolic oxygen atoms, adopting a square-planar geometry. The carboxylic groups of the ligand don’t participate to coordination but are involved in intramolecular H-bonding interactions with phenolic oxygen atoms. In addition, there is one free solvent molecule in the crystalline lattice. The related compound is of perspective of possible applications in the catalysis and photocatalysis. |
