The aim of our investigation was IR spectral study of the urinary stone containing as a main component of calcium phosphate or whitlockite. IR spectrum was recorded on a FTIR Spectrometer Spectrum 100, PerkinElmer in the range of 4000-650 cm-1 with use of ATR accessory. Analyzed stone previously was homogenized in an agate mortar. The IR spectrum is represented in the figure below. Phosphate ions have absorption bands in the IR region of 1100-960 cm-1. The presence or absence of СО32-, ОН-, NH4+, crystal H2O can be revealed by absorption bands in the other regions of IR spectrum some of which can overlap. In our case, urinary stone contains whitlockite which have strong absorption bands at 1027 and 961 cm-1 belonging to the as(PO4 3-) and s(PO4 3-). СаС2О4 is present in the stone as impurity. Oxalate ion in the IR spectrum is shown in the form of bands 1619 and 1317 cm-1, corresponding to as(C-O) and s(C-O). According to other literature data bands at 1619 and 1317 cm-1 correspond to as(C=O) and s(C=O) of oxalate ion. The band at 780 cm-1 indicates the presence of deformation vibrations (O-C=O) of oxalate group of whewellite СаС2О4Н2О. The presence of a broad band in the 3600-3000 cm-1 with a weak peak at 3325 cm-1 indicates the presence of impurities СаС2О42Н2О (weddellite). Thus it can be concluded that impurities of whewellite and weddellite are presented in the analyzed urinary stone besides whitlockite. |
