In this article is mentioned about the relationship between the country of Moldova and the monasteries of the Saint Athos in the second half of the XVII century. Since XIV-XV Romanian countries have established extensive connections with the major ecclesiastical centers between Balkan Peninsula, the Near East and The United Polon etc. Particularly close links have been the connections of nobles and the monasteries of Moldova with the monastic centers from the Saint Athos Mountain. During the XV century- XVII the rullers of Moldova have continued almost continuously to grant material support to athonite monasteries. There are certified documentary aids from the rulers: Stephen the Great, Petru Rares, Alexandru Lapusneanu, Petru Schiopu, Movilestilor, Vasile Lupu. If in the previous period, we notice more contributions in money in the second half of the XVII century is observed more and more that the rulers/noblemen, in addition to the donation, more and more local monasteries show reverence Saint Athos Mountain. Most revealing example is the worship on 30 January 1698, to the Zografu Monastery and Capriana Monastery. |
