Rezumat

Using the zero-radius potential model, of impurity light absorption in parabolic nanowires in constant electric and uniform magnetic fields was study. Both external fields are directed equally and perpendicular to the axis of the nanostructure.  Calculations of the impurity absorption coefficient of a weak electromagnetic wave for various polarizations are carry out. In particular, it was show that when an x-polarized wave is absorbed (light propagates perpendicular to the axis of the quantum wire), the contribution of the scattered wave to the absorption processes is zero. The figure shows the band structure of the investigated doped quantum wire in external electric and magnetic fields ( – the energy of the size quantization, – cyclotron frequency), as well as the optical transitions investigated in this work.  As studies have shown, the absorption of x-polarization light is possible for even size-quantized zones (transition I), and in the absence of external fields optical transitions II and III are forbidden.  In the presence of only the electric field, optical transitions to degenerate states (electrically induced transition II) are resolved. With increasing electric field, the amount of impurity absorption of light decreases, which is associated with a decrease in the overlap of the wave functions of the continuous spectrum and the bound state. In the magnetic field, optical transitions to hybrid states (transition III) are allow. In this case, the frequency dependence of the impurity absorption coefficient of light is describe by a bell-shaped curve, the maximum of which, with increasing magnetic field, shifts to the high-frequency region of the spectrum, which is associated with an increase in the cyclotron frequency.  The features of impurity absorption of an electromagnetic wave of y- and z-polarization are also studied.
