Rezumat

The area of supramolecular compounds based on transitional metals and multifunctional organic ligands plays an important role in the coordination chemistry due to a large amount of properties in different catalytic processes, their magnetic behavior, electrical conductivity [1] which emerged from the ability to synthetize the desired compounds [2].  Here we report the results of the X-ray study of the new iron(II) compound with the composition [Fe(phen)3]2·[Fe(H2O)6]·(C10H16O4)3·30H2O (1) where phen = 1,10-phenantroline and {C10H16O4}2- is the sebacic dianion. The compound crystalizes in the monoclinic space group P21/n, with the following unit cell parameters: a = 11.9838(8) Å, b = 32.954(2) Å, c = 15.8135(12) Å, β = 106.958(7)°.  The structure is built up from complex cations [Fe(phen)3]2+ and [Fe(H2O)6]2+, deprotonated sebacic acid and co-crystalized water molecules in the 2:1:3:30 ratio. It should be mentioned that this is the first time for an iron compound with sebacic anions to be reported. Moreover, in the complex are present only iron(II) atoms.
