Rezumat

Scientific communication presents all the types of professional communication in the academic community, one of the main mechanisms for science development, a method of interaction between researchers and the assessment of research findings. Currently, scientific communication is subject to significant changes. The scientific library as a segment of scientific communication cannot remain beyond the changes in the structure of the scientific information flow. To better understand the tendencies and practices in scientific communication through the medium of the library, the Scientific Library of the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova has carried out qualitative research on the topic “Ph.D. students and scientific research process: the role of the library”. The investigation represents an activity as part of the Project “Development of New Information Services for Higher Education in Economics in Moldova” funded by EURASIA Foundation, implemented in a partnership between the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova and the University of Bergen. Research objectives: analyzing the peculiarities of information consumption by Ph.D. students; identifying the types of information resources necessary for the scientific production process; studying the degree of awareness of the necessity of ethical use of information resources and the citation of sources; validating the knowledge and attitude of Ph.D. students to Open Access policy in the institution. During the research there was used the focus group method. The findings of this research will help identify the key issues in scientific communication of Ph.D. students and also will suggest new forms and methods for information assurance of the scientific research process.
