Teza

This thesis evokes and describes an important aspect of human beings, but we will refer to emotionality in the context of speech and literature, to be more exact - the category of emotiveness in language and its presence in the masterpiece of the writer.  The emotions described in the text create a specific atmosphere, which gives life to the characters and their actions. We will describe the communicative types of sentences that express emotion and their grammatical as well as syntactical and intonation properties, in the context of the masterpiece, providing examples for each case.  We will describe thewriting techniquesused by the author in implementing states of spirit and bursts of emotions in the storyline.  This work contains information regarding the personality of the controversial writer, Oscar Wilde, and his contribution to the use of emotion in all its aspects in the rational Victorian Époque.  Oscar Wilde started a revolutionary movement of expression and aestheticism in an epoch whenliterature was to bring as much use as possible and rationality prevailed over emotivity. Artists had forgotten the sense of art – the expression of feelings.  He awakened a spirit of living life to the fullest in the writers and readers of that time, reminding them of the good and bad sides in all of us, although he was criticized toughly by reviewers for hissomewhat naked way of expression in his novel.  Oscar Wilde was a convinced perfectionist, which can be easily denoted in his style. His views and ways of expression became a clue to the rise of the aesthetic movement in modern literature.  Due to his persistence and determination in defending his work, his versatility as an artist, his unique style, he is considered to have been one of the most controversial and expressive poets, playwrights, novelists and essayists of his time.  He considered that in art, style was a priority above sincerity, substance, or moral principles. Due to this fact, he put more into the form and aspect of the wording, carefully selecting all phrases, so as to be felt emotionally by the readers, because literature and all the other arts as well as language, would have no beauty without emotion.
