The last years have become crucial in the tourism development. Thanks to the fast development of the means of transport, the increasing of living level of population, the creation of comfortable conditions for accommodation and food, development of information technologies, the tourist’s security, the domain has gained a spectacular development. Tourists have found new destinations, exotic cultures with millenary traditions at the intersection between the West and the East, North and South. Some countries, gaining sovereignty, have discovered touristic "pearls" to the entire world. The durability of economic development, including the tourism sector, will depend on its ability to adapt to emerging economic, social, political, environmental and technological trends. For, the tourism to achieve its potential for the benefit of sustainable and favorable growth, will be implemented well - balanced policies, integrated strategies, structures and inter-ministerial mechanisms, including the private sector and other interested parts in tourism government. The majority of countries have medium- and long-term policies, strategies and plans that specifically target tourism. The tourism policy priorities vary very little from one country to another, with an emphasis on increasing competitiveness, sustainability and ecology, demand seasonality management and a qualitative improvement in the touristic offer in favor of its attractiveness. In the last two years, there was an awareness of the need to develop, to manage and promote local destinations with the help of regional and local structures and funding, to prepare and implement plans for management destination. The market share of emerging countries in tourism is expected to grow from 45% to 57% in 2018. France, the USA, Spain and China remain at the top of the international arrivals package in 2017, while China, the USA and Germany are the main eminent markets in each region. The research purpose in investigating the development of tourism in OECD countries, including Israel. |
