Equality between women and men is a fundamental principle of the European Union enshrined in the Treaties. It is part of the objectives and tasks of the European Union and integrating the principle of equality between women and men in all its activities represents a specific mission for the Union. That is why the European Commission has agreed to encourage gender mainstreaming in all EU policies. Therefore, gender equality is a right according to which everyone is free to develop their own skills and express their choices, without being influenced by the particularities of their own sex. The behavior, aspirations and needs of the different vocational training of the civil servants (women and men) must receive equal appreciation and promotion whereas gender discrimination is a violation of human rights. |
