Any literary text translation quality results from the message accurate interpretation which aims to convey the source text author’s intention. Humorous implicature may cover various intentions disguised in stylistic devices such as the metaphor, allusion, pun, et al. The role of implicature decoding and conveyance in humorous text translation is great, since they imply indirect comparison, implied associations, intentional ambiguity and are intended to amuse the reader. The present paper aims to analyze the translated metaphors selected from J.K. Jerome’s translated travelogue novels “Three Men in a Boat” and “Three Men on the Bummel” into Romanian from the perspective of pragmatic equivalence effect achievement and pragmatic adaptation techniques application. |
