The article analyses the fundamental trends of the international development that will shape the overall functioning of economic diplomacy of smaller countries, especially with respect to its new direction and tasks. The author of this article believes that countries with pro-exporting and open economies should reshape their institutional frameworks and the ways of managing economic diplomacy with the impetus to form a strategic interaction between government and business community as a crucial client of economic diplomacy. The article concludes by arguing that economic diplomacy will remain a vital instrument of foreign and economic policy and should significantly contribute to generating jobs, economic growth and speeding up the process of transition from industrial to knowledge-based economy. |
