The position of anticommunist writer, which programmatically wants ” not to forget” all those who have misused their discretionary power, and to whom the malefic beast has no excuse, makes Paul Goma anatrocious realist or, as have been named by the literary critics, ”a poet of cruelty” with ”a predisposition toward misanthropy”. But in his writings, especially in the novel „Din calidor”, we find a delicate poet of candor, a lyrical, evocative writer for whom the remembrances have an anesthetic effect on the wounds caused by the history. The candid, keen eye of the former child for whom the world expands fabulously and wonderfully, meets the warm, slightly ironic and indulgent sight of the old man exiled from thousands of kilometers away from his native Mana.The voice of narrator, blurred by this double look, clears the temporal boundaries of memory, and also those spatial, of multiple dramatic separations, in a retrieval of completeness and happiness.
