The article analyses the specific of the Theatre of Absurd, phenomenon in the world dramaturgy from the 2nd half of the 20th century. The main emphasis placed to the concept about existence, to the argumentation of the concept about absurd, to the concept about the man, to the relation “comic-tragic”, to the concept about time, the specific of the language, the relationship between the theatre of absurd and the existential philosophy. The theoretical generalizations are illustrated by examples taken from the most representative plays of the theatre of absurd.
