A page of national and religious edification: establishment of Bessarabian Metropolitan Church. The process of unification of Church from Bessarabia with the Romanian Orthodox Church, after the politic union between Prut and Nistru with Kingdom of Romania (27 March 1918), was a sinusoidal one and for a long time. The century of „development” of Bessarabian church within the ecclesiastical structures of Russian Empire had an influence on many aspects of organization and functioning of church life in this zone. After the political union, the civil and ecclesiastical Romanian authorities had to demonstrate more understanding and to manifest great judgment, so, the differences in the organization and functioning of the church on the two sides of Prut gradually disappeared and the clergy and believers from Bessarabia filled them comfortable in the Romanian Orthodox Church. By establishing the Metropolitan Church of Bessarabia (1928) led by the hierarch Gurie Grossu, the Romanian Orthodox church gave satisfaction of a desire of clergy and faithful people from Bessarabia, this act constituting itself as a national and religious edification action.
