Actualmente, sistemul bancar din Moldova este la frontiera dintre procesul de renovare, restructurare şi consolidare. Nu putem declara cu certitudine despre o stabilitate a numărului de bănci în sistemul bancar, ceea ce, desigur, poartă consecinţe asupra structurii economice, politice şi sociale. Aceasta se datorează faptului că bancruta unei bănci afectează nu doar capitalul acţionarilor, ci şi loialitatea depunătorilor în integritatea sistemului bancar. Una din cerinţele de funcţionare eficientă a sistemului bancar îl constituie existenţa unui sistem de supraveghere, bazat pe un cadru legislativ adecvat, ajustat la cerinţele supravegherii prudenţiale internaţionale.

Currently the Moldovan banking system is at the border between the renovation, training and strengthening. We cannot say that the number of banks is a constant variable, which has implications in economic, political and social level. That happens because the bankruptcy of a bank not only damages its shareholders wealth, but also the depositors and their loyalty to the entire banking system. One of the conditions of the normal operation of the banking sector is the existence of an effective system of surveillance based on an appropriate legislative framework, aligned to the requirement of international prudential supervision.
