This paper presents the author’s impressions after reading the volume announced in the title. Overall, it is estimated the prewar Bessarabia image seen with the eyes of a child who is the main character, alias Spiridon Vangheli in childhood. In a book, in fact for all ages, the writer revives a world long gone, when the peasants as the core representatives of the Romanian nation, fully honored their role. Their life of hard work was exemplary. Villages in which they lived obeyed unwritten but strict rules which refer to relationships between parents and children, between villagers. Everything happened within light, harmony and trust. A well organized society seemed so steady and yet failed miserably. By his grace of a genuine teller, whose affiliation to Romanian literature results from his work, Spiridon Vangheli joins the great family of Romanian writers.
