Since 1812, when the Russian Impire occupied the Eastern part of Moldo-van state, named by the occupants Bessarabia, a battle began for this territory between the international actors (Otoman, Austrian and Russian impires), as well as within the bessarabian territory – for a geopolitical orientation. This battle contiues even now in the independent Republic of Moldova: there are pa-rties which promote the integration within the Eurassian Economic Union, pro-posed by Russia, and there are parties which promote the integration in the Eu-ropean Union. The external factor is very influential in a small state like Repub-lic of Moldova. So the denouement of this struggle is still unknown and it de-pends on the internal democratic mechanism and on the external suport for both groups of political forces.
