The identity crisis is shown in the paper as the main feature of the spiritual
life of the post-Soviet countries. The situation when the old system has collapsed
and the new one is unformed determines the actualization of the problem of civilizational
choice and the search for new goals of social and cultural development.
These processes are common for all countries of the former Soviet Union
in different degrees and are very important for present-day Russia and Moldova.
The search for new civilizational landmarks in the two countries primarily
stems from the constructing of the relation to the West as the center of modern
civilization.
The attention is drawn in the paper that the civilizational choice takes place
in a radically changed global environment. The post-Cold War world did not
become stable and controllable, especially did not become unipolar. “Clash of
civilizations” that defines the global turbulence and instability of the modern
world has come instead of “end of history”.
The authors argue that the question of the unity and diversity of the world
history is ultimately actualized in connection with the universalist aspirations of
the Western civilization and the response of non-Western cultural and civilizational
systems. Theoretically sanctioned by the civilizational approach cultural
and civilizational diversity of the world provides an opportunity for constructive
and equal dialogue between civilizations, the ultimate multiplicity of historical
transformation which eliminates the possibility of the existence of a common
goal of historical development, provoking and causing universalist and unification
projects and activities. |
