Rezumat

The International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF) recently received the film archives of Armenia and Azerbaijan as members. It seems that there is also a National Film Archive of Moldova about which no one knows for sure and nothing is known abroad. Having an experience for 20 years as curator of the National Film Archive of Romania, I intend to present you some useful ideas so that this film archive of the Republic of Moldova can function and contribute to the safeguarding of the Moldovan cinematographic patrimony. In order for this institution to really exist and function, the help of FIAF and even similar institutions in countries that declared independence after 1990, such as Slovenia, Croatia, BosniaHerzegovina, Northern Macedonia, Montenegro and Slovakia, should be sought in the efforts to recover the negatives of Moldovan films kept in Kyiv and Moscow. In this regard, real support must be obtained from the government and the Ministry of Culture. Also, a special law on film archive must be drafted in order for the institution to have its own budget, capable of bearing the costs of air-conditioned storage, its own laboratory for cleaning, anti-mold treatment and multiplication of films, spaces for the preservation of paper materials such as scripts, censorship documents, etc., a library and a staff of filmologists and technicians.
