Spatial proximity of the population of the Republic of Moldova compared to national roads network, case study. Main roads. This study completes the researches started for the evaluation and measurement of the transport networks of the administrative regions of the Republic of Moldova. It is attempted to finalize the GIS methods of measuring the capacity and structure of some networks with similar theme and content. Networks of any kind can be characterized by dimensions, location, structure, connectivity, pressure on structure elements etc. Proximity and vicinity to transport networks is one of the clues that characterize and essentially contribute to the level of living of the population through population’s vicinity to various facilities. Location of the population and human settlements towards transport routes greatly influences on the accessibility level of the population. The goal of the study is the elaboration of a set of maps of the spatial distribution of the population of the Republic of Moldova, highlighting arterial roads with the greatest pressure from the population.
