Anxiety developed in school, through judgments that are revealed during episodes of emotional sensitivity or vulnerability, can inhibit the desire to express assimilated knowledge. This article describes theories of anxiety over time. Current knowledge referring to anxiety theories gnows constantly. This progress is largely due to the huge number of research studies that have been generated up to present and at last but not least to those that are still open. The article also describes those factors that lead to anxiety, such as fears and phobias related to the school. These anxiety disordes must be taken into consideration in order to optimize successfully the therapeutic efficiency. The cohnitiv model of anxiety, which is seen as an adaptive response to the environment, starts with the perception of threat in specific situation, the meaning that people attach to the situation is determined by their schemes and the memeory of their past similar situations. The behavioral theories postulate that anxiety is a conditioned reponse to specific environmental stimuli. |
