The role of forensic records consists in the discovery by the criminal investigation bodies, as well as by the court of the characteristic data of the persons and objects of record and their fi xing in a certain order in special fi les, in order to send them to the subdivisions charged with forensic record. The criminal records, at the request of the criminal and judicial investigation bodies, provide data that would directly contribute to the discovery of criminal cases. There are no crimes in the investigation of which this fi eld of forensic activity could be ignored without being to the detriment of the case. The purpose of forensic records is to provide law enforcement bodies with the offi cial information necessary to identify persons, objects, and the appropriate contribution to the verifi cation of data, circumstances that constitute the truth. Forensic records (including operative and investigative ones) are used to investigate and uncover crimes to solve various tasks. This fact determines their importance as a means of fi ghting crime.
