The phenomenon of homonymy is of great interest to study, primarily due to its low coverage in the linguistics of the Karakalpak language, as well as the difficulties of mastering and perception in the process of learning. While for native speakers the phenomenon of homonymy seems to be a natural and easily understandable part of their native language, for foreigners studying the Karakalpak language, homonymy presents some difficulties in the correct perception and understanding of the Karakalpak speech. The article attempts to identify the reasons for the appearance of homonymy, the characteristic features of homonyms, the display of the main problems of homonymy, the classification of the main types of homonyms, the definition of the role of homonyms in the Karakalpak language, as well as examples of different meanings of homonyms and their possible use.
