The article examines the influence of the biomedical model of health, adopted in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, as the scientific and methodological basis of sanitary and epidemiological measure sand social practices, on the bioethical aspects of maintaining health. This model assumed a significant decrease in the population’s opportunities for collective civic discussion of the proposed strategies, individual choice of methods for maintaining health, diagnostics and therapy, wide spread medicalization of every day and professional practices, lifestyle, socio-cultural traditions. It is concluded that the bioethical model of health as an autonomous choice of a person’s strategies and practices for maintaining health and as a collective discourse on a broad discussion of pro and contra applied biomedical technologies should be actualized in a society of global risks. |
