Rezumat

T he prospect for utilization of methods in vitro and their possible potential in the creation of a wide range of genetic variability for different crops, in the provision of certain efficient systems of selection and in the acceleration of obtaining certain new varieties is known, being reposed much hope in that. The matter deals first of all with the somaclonal genetic variability, appearing as a result of callusogenesis of tissues and organs in vitro. The aim of the present work consisted in reflecting the genetic nature of the plant regeneration process, as well as in studying the particularities of the gamma radiation action at the stages of obtaining waxy corn regenerants in vitro. The obtained results showed that processes for callus, somatic embryos and regenerants obtaining depended mainly on the age of the embryos and on the interaction thereof with the genotype.
