Background. Facial defects in children, even the monir ones, impose a burden on the personality during childhood. Facial defects can be congenital or acquired. The origins of most deformities are located craniofacial skeleton and the occlusion is always affected and has an impact on the shape of the face. Objective of the study. Comparison of the effectiveness of surgical-orthopedic treatment by the diagnosis of linear cephalometry and the Dolphin Imaging Siftware system for skeletal craniofacial deformities. Materials and Methods. We analyzed 10 adolescents with skeletal cranifacial deformities and moderate and severe functional disorders, acquired and congenital (facial clefts 3, Crouzon syndrome 2, acquired deformities 5). The linear cephalometric examination and the Dolphin Imaging Siftware system were used to plan the surgical treatment. Results. For the planning of the surgical treatment, linear cephalometry was used in 8 adolescents and in two Dolphin Imaging Software. The planned surgical treatment by linear cephalometry improved the morphofunctional condition observed immediately postoperatively. But during 12 months there was a tendency to relapse which required a long orthopedic treatment. Surgical treatment planning through the Dolphin Imaging Software system indicated good immediate and remote postoperative outcomes with no tendency to recurrence. Compared with the dental and dento-alveolar malocclusions of adolescents. Conclusion. The Dolphing Imaging Software system for the analysis and planning of surgical treatment has priority compared to linear cephalometry in children with morphofunctional disorders and congenital and acquired craniofacial skeletal deformities. |
