Rezumat

T he Field Crop Research Institute (FCRI) was created 58 years ago. 2 habilitat doctors, 25 doctors of science and 56 scientific workers activate today at the FCRI. The said scientists have created over 250 varieties and hybrids of the field crops, of which 88 have been homologated. At present, 48 varieties and hybrids of the field crops are in the homologation process. There also were elaborated 14 field crop cultivation technologies. The varieties and hybrids created with the FCRI have no legal protection, especially outside the boundaries of the Republic of Moldova. Particularly, the question is abouty multiplication of the sunflower hybrid seeds on the illegal hybridization sectors in the Russion Federation and Ukraine. Beginning with the year 2001, the FCRI fruitfully cooperates with the AGEPI and the State Commission of the Republic of Moldova for Variety Testing, filing 14 plant variety patent applications, by examination and testing them for distinctness, uniformity and stability under the UPOV methods. We are quite sure that soon we’ll become owners of the first field crop variety patents. The intellectual potential will urgently be included in the statutary capital of the scientific institutions.
