Background. Septal deviation is the most common nasal malformation, accounting for over 75% of the world's population. However, the authors' opinions regarding the surgical treatment tactics of the pathology in children are a matter of discussion. Objective of the study. consists in studying the clinical-functional peculiarities in children with nasal septal deviation in order to apply the optimal ways of surgical approach. Material and Methods. Anamnestic, clinical and paraclinical data were taken from medical databases. Patients underwent clinical examination and functional tests: paranasal sinus radiography, nasal endoscopy, acoustic rhinometry, rhinomanometry. The literature on similar cases has also been studied. Results. During the otorhinolaryngological examination, the deviations of the nasal septum with the following location were specified: -previous deviations (cartilaginous) -posterior deviations (bone) -total deviations (osteocartilaginous) The effectiveness of surgery was established by anterior rhinoscopy, endoscopic examination, acoustic rhinometry, rhinomanometry. Surveillance of patients in the postoperative period found that septoplasty in children leads to normalization or significant improvement in nasal breathing. Children's physical and intellectual development has significantly improved. The rate of local-regional complications has decreased. Conclusion. The treatment of choice for nasal septal deviation in children includes several surgical techniques that aim not only to remove the deviated septum, but also to remodel it and reimplant it in the middle position, in a redeveloped place |
