Background. Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (EPHI) continues to be a current problem of modern neonatology, with a frequency of 1-3/1000 live newborns, with a significant contribution in neonatal mortality and morbidity with remote consequences on the central nervous system. Objective of the study. Estimation of clinical-paraclinical particularities of hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy in newborns induced in hypothermia, identification of early neurological complications, for reduction of morbidity and mortality indicators in children. Material and Methods. In analytical, observational cohort study we analyzed 57 newborns affected by severe or moderate EPHI during the years January 2020 - May 2021 hospitalized in PHI IMC, who were divided into 2 groups: 1 group -37 children (64.9%) induced in hypothermia and 2 group- 20 children (35.1%) without induction. Statistically analyzed information in Microsoft Excel program, SPSS version 20. Results. As the result of the analysis studied data obtained, considerable statistical significance is determined the data of post-term newborns, 40.5% in first group and 20% in second group (p <0.05). The babies born post-matur have increased risk of asphyxia at birth. Convulsive syndrome was detected in 24.3% in first group and 55% in group II, what denotes severe damage to the central nervous system. Cases of death decreased significantly in first group 8.10% and 35% in group II (p <0.05). Induction in hypothermia had a favorable impact on the children of the first group expressed by reducing the complications associated with this pathology. Conclusion. The study confirmed the correlation between clinical and paraclinical characteristics of EPHI and therapeutic hypothermia, which has an important role in the neurological development of children with the reduction of the rate of disability and death. |
