Background. Nasal bone fractures are the most common type of facial bone fractures, representing approximately 50% of cases. Nasal bone fractures are managed by closed reduction within the 10 days period. There is little literature on the delayed reduction for nasal bone fractures beyond the 10 days duration. Objective of the study. To assess the effectiveness of delayed closed reduction of nasal bone fractures. Material and Methods. This article was developed based on three clinical cases of patients hospitalized and treated in SCR "Timofei Moşneaga", as well as the bibliographic study of scientific publications that study the terms of reducing nasal fractures. Results. All patients involved in the study were evaluated clinically and imaging, affirming the fractures of their own nasal bones with displaced end plates. Closed reduction of nasal fracture were performed to the three patients as follows: on the 11th, 14th and 15th day after facial trauma. The postoperative evolution was favorable, with good functional and aesthetic results. Also, the articles from the specialized literature, including the postoperative CT studies demonstrated excellent outcomes despite reductions being performed more than 2 weeks after trauma. Conclusion. Personal experience, as well as information from current scientific articles confirm the effectiveness of closed reduction of nasal bone fractures in terms of more than 10 days after the facial trauma suffered. |
